Why would anyone get rid of a good tool? Perhaps an estate sale?
Many of the tools (and electronics) I have purchased at yard sales have
turned out to have been gotten rid of because they were no good.
I never regretted the purchase of a good tool, but have often cursed the
acquisition of a bad one.
