This is not live aboard related but a question to any US ex military
    signals people.
The opening lines of "The Beach", a book by Alex Garland, are a radio comm
from Alpha Patrol. Re the following lift "........taking fire. I repeat
    taking fire............."
When I was playing Army in Australia, I was in a Sigs unit. The word
"repeat" was not used in the above context. We said "..I say again....".
"Repeat" was a word reserved for artillery usage and meant "repeat the same
    the same fire pattern"
So my question is did or does the same apply to the US military?
Considering that Vietnam was a SEATO operation I'd be surprised if the
    players had different rules.
