Somebody asked me off-list:

Mainly, because I am working my way up to the title of the cheapest bastard
on this list :)
In fact, the Holy Grail here is a log which is:
1. Trailerable;
2. Working both under sail and under power;
3. Independent of the main 12v system;
4. Indicating the distance travelled through the water.
5. Reasonably priced (under 100 usd).
Walker Log is everything but (5).
