A good ISP allows you to use any browser, use any email package, send email
in ANY format; Text, HTML, RTF.
I use a Mom and Pop Internet on the Chesapeake Bay. They allow for 6
different email accounts, personal web space (10 Megs). Their openning page
has no pop-up ads or frames. They also have a strange service: When you
call the technical support line a human answers. Usually on the 1st ring.
Send them an email and you get an answer with minutes.
It the risk of great personal embarrassment I'll list my web site here. I
just started this on Sunday so it is incomplete and a little rough.

I hope to build a large list of links that are of use to liveaboards like
where to get the following on the net: marine engine parts, chemicals,
fiberglass, batteries, electrical supplies, electronics, etc. I also hope
to build a large list marinas that allow liveaboards.

Fred,
Talk about a "KLUDGE"....!
Please, allow me to simplify your online presence with this suggestion.
Dump AOL
Engage a good ISP (take ATT for example) - now $15/mo., and they are
advertising a new $7/mo. service (sorry, I don't have the details)
Set up two (or more, they give you six for the price of one) mail accounts -
one for your personal stuff and one for the list stuff.
Use Internet Explorer (it's now used 9:1 over NetScape) and Outlook Express.
Set up "message rules" on Outlook Express to place the incoming messages
into different folders, depending on where the messages come from.
That's it. Now you'll have a great ISP, a great browser, and a great
e-mail client - all for less than you are currently paying. Plus all the
mail comes to one place. Simple...

I'm on AOL, still using 4.0 version, but I piggyback it onto my local ISP.
The local costs about $15 per month & AOL costs an additional $8 or $9 per
month. The advantage for me is that I can set up different addresses on AOL
for the lists I'm on, the only mail I get at this address is from
liveaboard.
I use my local provider for personal mail.
For www access I use Netscape (older version) thru my local ISP. Have to
admit AOL's browser sucks.
