    Jack,

I can agree with your comments . However Fred should consider adding one
more option - VShield virus protection software or the like. Outlook, due to
it's design, is fraught with being the easiest program to hack and is
usually the first one hit with another worm/virus. Security was not built in
    and it shows.....

    Fred,

        Talk about a "KLUDGE"....!

Please, allow me to simplify your online presence with this suggestion.

    1. Dump AOL

    2. Engage a good ISP (take ATT for example) - now $15/mo., and they are
advertising a new $7/mo. service (sorry, I don't have the details)

    3. Set up two (or more, they give you six for the price of one) mail
accounts - one for your personal stuff and one for the list stuff.

    4. Use Internet Explorer (it's now used 9:1 over NetScape) and Outlook
    Express.

    5. Set up "message rules" on Outlook Express to place the incoming
messages into different folders, depending on where the messages come from.

That's it. Now you'll have a great ISP, a great browser, and a great
e-mail client - all for less than you are currently paying. Plus all the
mail comes to one place. Simple...

I'm on AOL, still using 4.0 version, but I piggyback it onto my local ISP.
The local costs about $15 per month & AOL costs an additional $8 or $9 per
month. The advantage for me is that I can set up different addresses on AOL
for the lists I'm on, the only mail I get at this address is from
    liveaboard.
I use my local provider for personal mail.

For www access I use Netscape (older version) thru my local ISP. Have to
    admit AOL's browser sucks.

    Fred
