The classic I heard was the person who sucked up a bunch of ants with a
vacuum cleaner then sprayed bug killer into it. The bug spray used propane
as a propellant and the vacuum blew up!

Household vacuums blow the airstream through the motor to cool it. Shopvacs
have separate blowers to protect the motor from water, but even so the
copious amounts gas vapor would be sure to ignite from the motor sparks.

A boat fire I was neighbors with was caused by the owner doing varnish work
in the winter. The boat was closed up and he had an electric heater going.
After he finished the varnishing he went to the marina restaurant for coffee.
The boat caught fire and the interior was destroyed. BTW, the fellow had
gotten the (steel hull) boat cheap because the interior had been gutted by
    fire.
