        The best approach to this problem would be to trash AOL and find a better provider...

      If you are using AOL 6 (or "Netscape" 6) from what I understand, there is NO way to change from HTML postings. At least that is what I was told by AOL tech support.
      And be careful. A friend of mine changed to 6 and then changed back to 4.75 Netscape and found that he lost all of his address book and bookmarks. He was told that the new version had moved that information to the AOL servers and it could not be retrieved.
