As a farm boy who grew up in Oklahoma and was taught to respect authority
and obey the law, I went to Viet Nam. In retrospect, a huge mistake.
I frequently don't agree with Norm of Bandership, but he states the facts as
he experiences them. The Lieutenant who responded gave a very reasonable
and articulate response which represented his view and I wish that he were
the norm for authority.
List members who make a big deal by telling me they are leaving get no
respect from me. If you are leaving, then leave. What is the point in
telling the rest of us that you are leaving? Are we supposed to feel guilty
and "beg" you to stay?
Norm has a beef with authority, another defends the government employee
(Grandma), another is active in the USCG and bites his tongue (Mike),
another "dictates" the use of computers (Jay) ... Does it matter if they
are contributing? If this were a party would everyone stomp out of the
room?
I take everyone for whom they are. We are all individuals which means we
have our own opinions and beliefs.
