Earlier I said to not look for the cheapest, but was vague about
prices. I consider $165 a great deal and wouldn't want to pay less.
(assuming I was buying quality for the money.) You're going to (I
assume) be driving a hard drive, motherboard, removable drives, and
all that from this power supply. A bad power supply can destroy
those components. I'm assuming those components cost you ten times
what they are asking for this 250W power supply.
I guess my point is people are more concerned about the motherboard
than the power supply, because the marketing of computers puts more
emphasis on the processor and motherboard features, but this doesn't
represent the operational significance of them.
Often a power supply doesn't fail, it just fails to provide good
power, and this can look like random glitches, periodic bluescreens
etc. Often someone will think they have a virus infecting thier
computer when its actually just a faulty power supply.
