Since the topic of firearms aboard has a history of being inflammatory on the
main list, why don't those of us interested in exploring the question create
a mini-list? My software allows me to create mail groups from multiple
addresses, so the mini-list could simply be such a group.

As I've said in previous posts, I have very mixed feelings about this
question, and would have to seriously consider whether to carry a firearm on
an extended cruise. Quite frankly, I even wonder if I should be armed at the
dock, given that the murder rate in Vallejo has risen sharply in the last
year, and a boater at the nearby Petaluma Marina went berserk recently and
    killed the harbormaster.

Were I alone, I might be more willing to go unarmed, but with a wife to
consider and frequent visits from family members, I am concerned about their
    safety.

Anyway, I think the topic is worth exploring, but not if it is going to turn
the liveaboard list into a flame fest.
