one of my friends has a eat trick. He uses a stern lin that is also attached to the midships cleat, forming a triangle. When he approaches the dock (floating, I can't remember the last time I saw a fixed dock on L. Ontario) he just slips the stern/midshps line onto a cleat, and he's only got to walk forward and cleat off the bow line. this also acts asa brake.(with the wheel turned towards the finger he's approaching.) total control. I've watched him do it with his C&C 41.
