I had a blockage in the AC condensate drain in my car, so all the water
ran down into that pad under the passenger side floor carpet for a few
months, which caused some sort of mold or mildew to develop, and a
rotten smell so strong that people couldn't stand to ride in the car.
It took me a while to even figure out what the problem was. When I
pulled it out it was sopping wet and foul smelling. I had to throw away
all that padding. So I don't think it does well in damp environments.
