Good Morning, I wanted to pass along info on my insulation project and
thank whoever suggested using it. Over the holidays, I picked up a couple
4'x8' sheets of Celotex Tuff-R to install on my sailboat which had no
insulation from the heat or cold. To get it home in the car and to store
it on the boat, I just cut it into thirds at the store. This stuff is very
easy to work with and can be cut with a steak knife and glued behind
paneling to the bulkheads. I sealed the edges with aluminum tape in where
it would be exposed until winter is over. I also cut inserts for the port
lights and hatches. After three days I can really tell the difference. I
picked up the safety data sheets at http://www.celotex.com and it appears
fairly safe and doesn't create dust or out gas any fumes. I put a couple
chunks in a cup of water overnight and it doesn't soak up water because it
floats. The inside of the insulation does burn, but is covered with a
shinny silver foil backing.
Oh yes, I don't own Celotex Inc., have nothing to gain, and the usual other
disclaimers apply.
